<article><p class="lead">Brazil's natural gas available to buyers was down by 5.6pc in December to 54.46mn m³/d (1.9 Bcf/d) compared with the same month last year, as the country directed more gas towards reinjection.</p><p>Available natural gas was down by 12pc compared to previous month's levels, according to preliminary data from Brazil's oil and gas regulator ANP.</p><p>Gas reinjection in December increased by 15pc from a year earlier, to 60.7mn m³/d, and was up by 5.7pc against the previous month.</p><p>Total Brazilian natural gas production was up 4.1pc on a yearly basis, and down 3.2pc on a monthly basis, at 132.2mn m³/d.</p><p>Flaring was up by 9pc compared to the December 2020, and down 12pc compared to November, at 3.32mn m³/d.</p><p>Gas consumption on production platforms was up by 6.6 pc yearly at 14.3mn m³/d, and up by 0.6pc from the prior month.</p><p class="bylines">By Rebecca Gompertz</p></article>
